about

Lyrics influenced by traditional folk songs tell a story of true love lost, coupled with fresh, creative production "Come Spring" evokes sweeping mountain-scapes and the building tension of a coming storm.

"I wrote "Come Spring" as an answer to my song "Over the Mountain" (In the Morning, 2012) from the perspective of the one who had to leave his true love, where "Over the Mountain" was written from the point of view of the girl left behind.

Basically, I handed this bare bones song to Peter, (Peter Rodocker of Yellow Room Recording) with just banjo and vocals tracked, and let him run with it, which he more than did. I gave him only a few little specifics I wanted but really just trusted him to produce it...which was a first for me and speaks highly to our longtime working relationship and to Peter's credit that I would feel comfortable doing so."

lyrics

I will take you
To a high place
I will take you
With me one day
Where I'm going
None can say
But I will come back for you

I am leaving
In the morning
In the blue light
O're the mountain
I am seeking
For to save us
But I will come back for you

Oh oh there's a high snow falling
Oh oh the wind and rain
I will lay me down beside you
Come spring
Sweet baby

Through the winter
In the valley
Where I'm sleeping
You'll lie with me
Through the cold nights
In the tall trees
I sleep to see your face

And when that high snow
Starts falling
Will you hear me across the mountain
Will you hear me
Hear me singing
I will come back to you

Oh oh there's a high snow falling
Oh oh the wind and rain
I will lay me down beside you
Come spring
Sweet baby

White flowers
Will be waving
In the breeze
Across he mountain
And I will pick them
For you darling
I will come back to you

Oh oh there's a high snow falling
Oh oh the wind and rain
I will lay me down beside you
Come spring
Sweet baby

about

Jenna Ellefson Portland, Oregon

Jenna grew up in lush Oregon, beside waterfalls, amid tall trees and foxgloves. One flowery spring, on a whim, she bought a little banjo...and suddenly all the poems she had been scribbling, and all the melodies she had been humming, and all the beautiful places she had seen spilled out over its little plucky strings and finally...she had songs to sing. ... more
